Other refinery facts learned as a result of the Refinery Impact Study conducted in 1995 by Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association are noted below.

Louisiana produced oil accounts for 21 percent of the refinery input. Other sources of crude oil include the Gulf of Mexico, other states and foreign countries.

If restricted to only Louisiana crude oil the refineries in Louisiana could only operate two months each year.

The 19 Louisiana refineries spend $17.5 billion each year on crude oil, wages and salaries, taxes and vendor services.

Approximately half of that amount, $8 billion, is spent in Louisiana each year.

The Louisiana refineries employ 8,700 Louisiana residents.

The Louisiana vendors used by the refineries employ another 88,000 persons.
