The LSU Center for Energy Studies is a leading source of information about the Louisiana oil and gas industry. The Center has completed a number of studies regarding the industry.

Louisiana Department of Natural Resources

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources is the lead state agency in the state responsible for the regulation of the oil and gas industry. The Louisiana Office of Conservation is located within the Department of Natural Resources, the Office of Conservation has day-to-day jurisdiction over the oil and gas industry.

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality

This state agency is responsible for administering most environmental regulations related to the oil and gas industry and other industries in the state.

Louisiana Oil Spill Map

The Louisiana Applied and Educational Oil Spill Research and Development Program, located within the office of the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator has developed a satellite image boundary map for the state on CD. The CD also contains an extensive data base about the state. The map and database can be viewed at this website.

Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation

This state agency is responsible for the administration of tax collections in the state including sales, severance, franchise and income.

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement

BOEMRE is an office within the U.S. Department of Interior. It is responsible for the administration of offshore leases, collection of royalties and other related items. This is the federal agency charged with the development of the federal energy policy.
