Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) President Tommy Faucheux issued the following statement in response to the announcement that the EPA has granted primacy over Class VI wells to the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources.

“A major milestone for Louisiana’s energy future, Class VI primacy is a huge win for our state and a critical step in attracting new industry investments. The path to obtaining primacy has been a true Louisiana team effort among all levels of leadership that will allow Louisiana to lead the nation in reducing emissions while providing safe, reliable, affordable energy to meet our nation’s energy demands.

With primacy over carbon capture and storage permitting, we can generate billions of dollars in investments and economic opportunity years before other states. We are on the verge of a new golden age of energy production and all that comes with it—new jobs, more state revenue, and a stronger economy. For Louisiana to remain at the forefront of these opportunities, we must leverage every competitive advantage available, and primacy is key to our future success.”
