The Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) President Tommy Faucheux released the following statement as President Biden prepares to deliver his annual State of the Union Address.

“As the President plans his agenda for the year ahead, I hope he plans to remove the barriers to domestic energy production and enacts policies that encourage oil and natural gas companies to produce more of the low carbon energy needed by U.S. consumers and allies around the world.

The oil and natural gas industry in Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico is a vital component of both the domestic and global energy economy. It is time for the Biden Administration to recognize the benefits of Louisiana’s energy leadership in order to meet the world’s energy demands while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions. The Administration made the right decision to grant Louisiana primacy over the regulating of Class VI wells for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). They now need to retract their decisions to limit Gulf of Mexico lease sales and to pause the permitting of new Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export terminals.”
