The Dallas-based Crosstex Energy companies have completed a $16 million expansion that tripled the amount of crude oil the Geismar facility could move from railcars to barges.

The Riverside facility can now move around 15,000 barrels of crude from tank cars to barges. The Phase II expansion also included a 100,000-barrel above-ground storage tank; a rail spur with a 26-railcar unloading rack; a crude offloading facility; and a truck unloading bay.

The Riverside facility also added the ability to unload sour crude, the heavier oil that contains higher levels of sulphur.

Crosstex expects the Riverside expansion projects to generate annual revenue of around $10 million a year.
