The Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association (LMOGA) issued the following statement in response to BOEM’s reinstatement of the results from Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 257 pursuant to the Inflation Reduction Act.
“The reinstatement of Lease Sale 257 is a positive step forward for domestic energy production and for the communities of the Gulf Coast,” said LMOGA President Tommy Faucheux. “While we are encouraged by this step in the right direction, what happens next is critical. We urge the Department of the Interior to recognize the importance of issuing a Final 5-year Program for offshore leasing that includes all 11 proposed sales.”
“Gulf of Mexico energy production offers a sound, environmentally responsible path forward for meeting our nation’s energy demands, while supporting emission reductions, and bolstering national security. We need support for domestic energy production so Louisiana's oil and natural gas industry can continue providing a stable supply of reliable and affordable energy.”
