Today, Governor Bobby Jindal and Halliburton Senior Vice President Marc Edwards dedicated Halliburton’s new Lafayette Completion Tools Manufacturing Facility.

The company plans to create 160 new, direct jobs at the facility by the end of the year, which exceeds the 150 jobs committed by Halliburton when it broke ground in 2011. The company currently employs 135 at the site and expects to reach an annual payroll of more than $8 million, plus benefits, by the end of the year. The project will result in an additional 350 indirect jobs.

Halliburton invested nearly $65 million in the 200,000-square-foot plant, which produces complex machined components for oilfield service operations.

Governor Jindal said, “Halliburton has a long history of doing energy business in Louisiana and providing good jobs for our people. When we took office, we committed to making Louisiana the most competitive state for businesses to invest and expand because we knew our commitment would grow our economy and lead to even more jobs. Halliburton’s expansion is further proof of Louisiana’s strong business climate and our commitment to retaining and growing existing Louisiana companies.”

Halliburton is one of the world’s largest providers of products and services for the energy industry. The company started construction on the Lafayette facility in July 2011. State-of-the-art manufacturing equipment at the facility includes numeric-controlled turning and milling equipment, along with such services as heat treatment, coating, assembling, and product testing for oil and gas producers worldwide.

“With Lafayette’s strong workforce and economy, access to major transportation zones, and the LED FastStart™ program that helped to hire and train our employees, this is a good place to grow our business,” said Halliburton’s Edwards, who’s senior vice president of the company’s Completion and Production Division.

In addition to Lafayette, Halliburton has Louisiana locations and employees working in Berwick, Broussard, Cameron, Covington, Dulac, Fourchon, Houma, Larose, Morgan City and New Iberia.

To secure the project, the State of Louisiana offered Halliburton a competitive incentive package that includes $2 million in performance-based financial assistance from the LED Rapid Response Fund. The company also qualified for custom workforce solutions from LED FastStart, which is ranked as the top state-based workforce development program in the nation. Halliburton is also expected to utilize the state’s Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
