LMOGA on Racial Injustice and Discrimination

06 09, 2020 by LMOGA

On behalf of the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) and our staff, we share the anger and concern felt by so many at the unfolding events across America. The senseless murder of George Floyd and so many others has brought renewed attention to the inequality and injustice in our country.

We believe this moment in our history must be met with meaningful action to build a stronger Louisiana and nation for every citizen. It is time to have difficult conversations, to stand up for what is right, and to confront systemic racism and injustice faced by the black community. We all must challenge ourselves to listen with empathy and to learn from others experiences for real healing to begin.

LMOGA condemns racism and has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind. We stand for inclusion, equality, and respect for everyone in our community. Racism and discrimination have no place in America or in our industry. More broadly, diversity makes the oil and natural gas industry better, stronger and more resilient as we work to provide energy for generations to come.

We stand for inclusion, equality, and respect for everyone in our community. Racism and discrimination have no place in America or in our industry.

We are stronger together than we are divided, and LMOGA will seek to engage with diverse organizations in meaningful conversations on how we can support positive solutions. In addition, LMOGA will form a diversity and inclusion committee to gather input and ideas from our members, our employees, and our partners on thoughtful actions our industry can take to promote inclusion across all our initiatives and in our community.

During this time of uncertainty, when black communities are facing deep inequities, now is the time for unity and justice. LMOGA stands in solidarity against racism and with all those who seek respect, fairness, and the right to equal opportunities. LMOGA is committed to advocating for diversity in our industry and in support of a better life for all people.
