Louisiana's exports of merchandise increased 5 percent in the first half of 2012 compared with the same period of 2011, according to the International Trade Administration, from $27 billion in the first half of last year to $28.4 billion in the first six months of this year. The biggest gains came from Venezuela, Gibraltar, France, Turkey and Colombia. Petroleum products, agricultural products, chemicals, food and related products and machinery are the state's key products for export.
