The State Mineral and Energy Board conducted its monthly meeting and lease sale Wednesday in the LaBelle Room of the LaSalle Office Building in Baton Rouge. The Board collected more than $2 million in bonuses in the January lease sale, making the total collected for FY 11-12 more than $18.6 million.
At this month’s lease sale, the Board awarded 24 leases covering more than 5,517 acres, out of 50 nominated tracts covering more than 44,900 acres.
The Board sold leases in Allen, Bienville, DeSoto, East Carroll, Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Natchitoches, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry and St. Martin parishes. Of the 24 tracts awarded, 6 were in north Louisiana and 18 were located in the southern parishes.
